PROGRESS… PROGRESS.. PROGRESS…
Week three working with Dr. Sapna at Integra Health Centre rehabilitating my ankle after suffering an injury in late April. This session was all about progress, especially when it comes to my balance and stability in the ankle. WARNING: laughs definitely happened during this session because my balance is T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E you’ll see! 🤦🏽♀️
FLEXION ASSESSMENT PRE- TREATMENT
Every session with Dr. Sapna she likes to check the progression of my ankle flexion before treatment begins, and just in three weeks of treatments & home rehab exercises, it’s awesome to see the flexion improvement.
“We worked with heavy focus on my posterior chain including some dynamic Extracorporal Shockwave Therapy – using the shockwave therapy combined with A.R.T. (active release techniques) passes – through the achilles, gastrocnemius, soleus and hamstring group.” – Dr. Sapna
“We kept the work going by including A.R.T. to the glut max, med, and piriformis bilaterally to unlock the hips and give them some much needed love!” – Dr. Sapna
When it comes to injuries it’s always interesting to see how the body is so connected. Unless you’re someone well versed in the anatomy of the body, a lot of people don’t realize how an ankle injury can then have an effect on the rest of your body. Connecting to your hamstring, hips, and your back, which is why we focus part of treatment and rehab on my hips and low back.
“We also focused on your proprioceptive rehab progressions by combining balance onto more unstable surfaces, which clearly you found challenging!” – Dr. Sapna.
She is 100% correct about that one! 😂
Obviously the balance was added to my at home rehab program to be worked on! The goal is to eventually [one day] close my eye while on one foot! Ha, this should be interesting! 🤷🏽♀️
FLEXION ASSESSMENT POST TREATMENT
After a couple days following treatment and working on my at home exercises, check out the difference in my balance!
